Services

DynaROM, or Dynamic Range of Motion, is an FDA-approved, Class II diagnostic device that simultaneously measures muscle activity and spinal range of motion during movement. Muscles contract when we move, but they also contract when we experience pain. Other diagnostic testing like x-rays and MRIs are great at detecting fractures, disc herniations, and torn ligaments or tendons. However, these diagnostic methods fall short in identifying the sensation of pain itself. The DynaROM can measure muscle activity – not just when you are standing still, but also while bending, twisting, or rotating the spine. The system accumulates data as individuals perform a sequence of movements. This data provides objective insights into the quality of spinal mobility and muscle function. Such data proves invaluable for confirming the presence or absence of injuries, monitoring an individual’s response to treatment, and helping to determine the presence of permanent injury at the completion of care.

Why is this DynaROM beneficial for my personal injury cases?

DynaROM has revolutionized the entire process of quantifying soft tissue injury by keeping adjusters, doctors, and juries focused on the quality of data. Insurers have seen the impact this data has on juries, increasing the probability they settle cases in a manner best for the patient. DynaROM provides objective data to support or refute unsubstantiated opinions. With a proven track record in courts and acceptance by the American Medical Association, it stands as the method of choice in assessing spinal range of motion according to the AMA’s Practical Guide to Range of Motion Assessment. This technology helps establish the quality of the case from the start and demonstrates soft tissue injury where all other methods fail. It focuses the adjuster and juries on the quality of data versus the credibility of an expert. Its admissibility has been firmly established, making it a beneficial tool for all parties involved in injury assessment and compensation.

What does the test entail?

The DynaROM test can be used to assess either the lower back (lumbar) or the neck (cervical) region. The test uses surface electromyography technology that is non-invasive, painless and is safe to use on pregnant women and children.

To ensure accurate results, you’ll be asked to remove your shoes and we will provide you with a hospital gown so that we can have easier access to your back and neck during the test. We will also ask you to stow your cell phone or any other electronic devices as they can interfere with the sensitive electronic equipment used in the test.

Then we will attach electrodes to specific areas of your back or neck. You’ll then be asked to perform gentle bends and twists within your comfort range. Throughout this process, our advanced system will create graphs showing how your muscles respond to these movements while measuring your range of motion. The entire test takes less than 15 minutes for a single region.

ChiroPlus Injury Care Clinic is one of the only healthcare providers in the St. Louis area to offer this technology.

For patients dealing with injuries stemming from motor vehicle accidents, workplace incidents, or slip and falls, our DynaROM testing offers an objective means to document soft tissue injuries, especially in cases where x-rays or MRIs may not reveal abnormalities. We proudly provide DynaROM testing to injury patients, even if you are currently under the care of another healthcare provider. Your health and well-being are our utmost priorities, and we’re here to assist you in accurately documenting soft tissue injuries, ultimately adding value to your injury case.
