FAQ
ER physicians are trained to rule out life-threatening conditions. They do not treat or diagnose the underlying soft-tissue damage and musculoskeletal imbalances that can cause chronic pain after traumatic injury. You need to see a doctor who focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of your injuries. Our team is specifically trained to detect, properly document, and expertly treat these injuries including disc herniation, sciatica, shoulder pain, jaw pain, sprains and associated spinal instability, strains, headaches and other TBI symptoms.
Your initial visit to our chiropractic clinic is a crucial milestone on your path to recovery. To ensure a seamless process, please bring any pertinent information related to your incident, such as insurance details, claim numbers, or adjuster/attorney contact information. If you’d prefer to complete your intake paperwork from the comfort of your home, we can conveniently email or text you a link. Alternatively, we are more than happy to guide you through the paperwork when you arrive at our office.
During this first appointment, we will also request records from any other healthcare providers you’ve seen concerning your condition. You may be asked to fill out some additional paperwork, particularly if you’re experiencing head injury symptoms or difficulties with daily tasks due to your injuries. These details are vital for documenting your condition accurately.
Your comprehensive consultation and examination will be personally conducted by Dr. Marshall. Based on the findings, several outcomes are possible. You may receive treatment on the same day to initiate the alleviation of your symptoms. In other cases, we might recommend further diagnostics or testing to gain a deeper understanding of your condition. Rest assured, our commitment is to provide you with the most appropriate and effective care.
Additionally, we may offer items to take home, such as a brace or topical pain relief spray, to assist in managing your symptoms between visits. Your comfort and recovery are our utmost priorities, and our dedicated team is here to support you at every stage of your journey.
We understand that treatment is needed immediately following many traumatic injuries and most people don’t want to pay out-of-pocket for medical care, especially if someone else was responsible for your injuries. For that reason, we work on a lien for treatment of most personal injuries. Essentially, we agree to wait to get paid until your personal injury claim is settled or resolved. After a settlement is reached, the insurance company or your attorney will pay our office directly from the amount obtained. Also, in accordance with the MO lien statute, our office also agrees to absolve you of any additional liability after settlement, even if your settlement falls short of covering the entire bill.
Not necessarily. For uncomplicated injury claims, you may be able to handle the process on your own. However, in many cases, especially when dealing with multiple providers, significant medical bills, contested liability, or multiple insurances, having legal representation can be beneficial.
Personal injury claims can become complex, and having a lawyer can help guide you through the process, ensuring your rights are protected and maximizing the potential outcome. Most personal injury attorneys work on a contingency basis, meaning there is no upfront cost to hire them, and they only get paid a percentage of any settlement you receive.
We have collaborated with numerous personal injury attorneys in the St. Louis area and can offer several recommendations if needed.
MedPay is an optional car insurance coverage type that pays for you and your passengers’ medical bills and other types of expenses, no matter who was at fault for the accident. Unlike health insurance, there are no co-pays or deductibles in most cases.
Your MedPay covers care for each person in the car. Your insurance company cannot raise your rates solely because you used your MedPay. You would have had to select this coverage at the time you purchased your policy. MedPay even covers your medical expenses if you were a passenger in another person’s car or were hit by a vehicle as a pedestrian. It is also a good option to help pay for injury treatment if you may have been at-fault for an accident (like sliding on ice into a tree or swerving to avoid hitting a deer and hitting a median). Our office can file for MedPay benefits, just bring in your insurance information and claim number to your first visit.
We are not in-network with any commercial health insurance or any government-sponsored plans like Medicare or Medicaid.
In Missouri, as an at-fault state, the responsible party for your injury is legally obligated to cover the bills, regardless of prior payments by you or your insurance. If you were to try to submit a claim to your health insurance for injuries sustained in an automobile crash, you would still be responsible for any deductible and/or copays. They would also likely file a subrogation lien to recover any payments that were issued. For these reasons, we don’t accept or file health insurance for personal injury patients.
For patients who are not pursuing a personal injury claim, we can provide a Superbill that you may submit to the insurance company on your own behalf for possible reimbursement of any covered services.
We accept cash, credit/debit cards, and HSA (Health Savings Account) cards at the time of service.
In this situation, you would use your own auto insurance policy’s uninsured motorist (UM) protection, which Missouri law requires. Your medical expenses, past and future lost wages, and any pain and suffering, are all covered by this coverage. You would just have to reach out to your insurance company and start a claim. Just bring the claim number and insurance information with you on your first visit.
The number of chiropractic treatments needed can vary significantly and depends on several factors, such as the nature and severity of your injuries, your age, any pre-existing conditions, the type of work you do, your commitment to at-home care recommendations, and many other aspects. Our approach is patient-centered, and we collaborate closely with you and any other healthcare providers to create a tailored treatment plan that maximizes your potential for a speedy and complete recovery. There is no set number of treatments recommended and it is often difficult to provide an estimate until we see how you are responding to care.
